TNT Crane and Rigging
As a result of our safety record, TNT is a 2010 Texas Mutual Insurance Company Award Winner, the second consecutive year we have received this honor.
Our Framework for Safety
Certified operators: Our crane operators are among the best in our industry. They are certified through the NATIONAL COMMISION for the CERTIFICATION OF CRANE OPERATORS (NCCCO) and have also completed our own in house training and certification program. This program consists not only of a written test  but extensive hands on training. All cranes larger than 100 tons capacity have two men. The second man is trained by the head operator and this training can last from 1 -2 years.
  • NCCER Accredited Assessment Center
  • Job Safety Analysis (JSA) are completed prior to the start of all jobs. This analysis is to identify all hazards, identify all safe work practices that need to be followed, and personal protective equipment that needs to be used. All information on rigging to be used including capacity, load weights, crane configuration, is calculated to determine percentage of crane capacity that is being used. All TnT employees on the job are required to participate in the JSA, with involvement from the customer and their employees.
  • Job site safety audits are performed on a regular basis. These audits are to support our men and to help identify any problems that might need to be corrected.
At TNT Crane and Rigging, safety is not some lofty goal; it is paramount in every task we perform. An unyielding commitment to safety permeates our company and our culture and our record proves it!
Our Record
At TNT Crane and Rigging, we are proud of our safety record. This year, we celebrate an EMR OF .52 and Six CONSECUTIVE YEARS OF AN EMR BELOW .75. As a result of our safety record, TNT is a 2010 Texas Mutual Award Winner for the second consecutive year.

Our Philosophy
We start with a simple premise--We believe every accident, every injury is preventable. Our most valuable resource is our people. It is our people, their talents, experience, and knowledge, that make TNT a leader in the heavy lift and transport industry. It is our responsibility as a company to provide a framework that ensures a safe work environment. This framework is a set of practices, policies and procedures that place safety above all. It's more than good business; it's the right thing to do.

Understanding the Experience Modification Rate (EMR)

The experience modification rate was developed by the insurance industry as a metric to measure competence in a given field. It is a relatively straightforward computation that compares a company's annual losses in insurance claims against its policy premiums over a three-year period.

Companies whose claims are average for their industry can expect an EMR of 1.0, but those with claims above the industry average will see their EMR jump above 1.0. Conversely, a history of below-average claims will show up in an EMR rate below 1.0.

The EMR is a good indicator of a company's commitment to safety. In a recent newsletter aimed at safety executives, an international chemical giant laid out its policy: It will not work with any company that hasn't "demonstrated its ability to work safely," as reflected in an EMR of 0.99 or below.
